Purchased in 2008 from Davis Bynum, Baker Ridge Vineyard is located in the Middle Reach region of the Russian River Valley AVA on a ridgeline overlooking the Russian River and Mount St. Helena.  It contains five distinct soil types and features varied aspects and elevations with 360 degree exposure, resulting in multiple micro-climates within this 40 acre site.

Baker Ridge Vineyard is planted to 16.5 acres of Pinot Noir, 3.5 acres of Chardonnay and 1 acre of Grenache Noir and 0.5 acres of Viognier.  The original plantings date back to 1976 but it has now been replanted and redeveloped.

Sitting high on the crest above the famous vineyards of Williams Selyem, Rochioli and Flax, this location is in the heart of the Russian River Valley appellation.  It is 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean and is heavily influenced by coastal fog.

There are five distinct soil types, from rocky to sandy loam to blocks with more silty clay. All the soils offer excellent drainage and contribute to lower vigor in the vines than what is generally seen on the valley floor.

Baker Ridge Vineyard is farmed as 17 distinct blocks, with 13 blocks of Pinot Noir featuring seven different clones, two blocks of Chardonnay, as well as very small blocks of both Grenache Noir and Viognier. The overall diversity of aspect and soil type, in addition to the variety of clones and rootstocks, delivers an outstanding level of complexity in the fruit harvested from Baker Ridge Vineyard.
